Fifth seeded Krish Waghani outhit and outlasted top seed Vedant Mestri 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) to capture the boys singles title in the Khar Gymkhana- All India Ranking Championship Series Tennis Tournament-2018 , sponsored by Chenab Impex and hosted by Khar Gymkhana here today.
The match lasted almost two hours with both the players showing signs of utter tiredness in the end with Krish showing better staying power. In fact, Krish led 4-1 in the first set before Vedant fought back to take the set to the tie-breaker only to see Krish running away with it. Even in the second set, it was Krish who was calling the shot to jump to 5-2 lead. But trying to finish it off, he made errors galore and let Vedant to come back into the match as he made it 5-all. Krish , however, came out triumphant in the tie-breaker again.
Pune girl Ruma Gaikaiwari after running away with the first set (6-1), saw Suhani Sabharwal matching her stroke for stroke in the second. In fact, Shuhani was faster and more aggressive than her rival, but then made too many errors to lose the initiative as well as the match after taking the second set to the tie-breaker.
