Guru Table Tennis Centre which is headed by renowned Coach and veteran TT player Gill Gurcharan Singh had entered its team for the first time in State Ranking Masters’ Table tennis tournament played at Vile Parle’s Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul . And their well balanced team went on to win the team championship event in which 48 teams from all over Maharashtra had taken part.
In the team finals played during late mid night hours between Saturday and Sunday , Guru TT Centre beat PJ Hindu Gymkhana 3-2 in a well contested match. Naveen Salian who won both his matches, was the star player of Guru TT Centre. The other crucial match was won by Rajesh Singh against PJHG’s Jayant Kulkarni. For PJHG, Suhas kulkarni won his first singles against Kiran Salian, while Jayant along with Pinakin Sampat won the doubles against Kiran & Rajesh Singh.
Earlier in the semi finals, Guru TT Centre had beaten Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul ( PTKS) A team 3-1, while in the other semi finals, Century Warriors team conceded a walk over to PJ Hindu Gymkhana , as their match got delayed beyond schedule. However, the enthusiasm of veteran players playing in the team finals is to be admired, as in spite of playing their team finals late hours, the next day they were present for their individual matches @10 am.
