Located in the heart of kandivali and Borivali on West side is Poinsur Gymkhana which was founded by present Member of Parliament Shri Gopal Shetty few years ago, after adopting 40,000sq meters of space from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, has today flourished into a full fledged sports centre for all age groups.

For the past three years this Gymkhana has been conducting Annual Sports Fiesta under “Uttar Mumbai Krida Mahotsav” and this is the fourth year, when the Gymkhana takes the pride in providing all round development in the world of sports like Football, Cricket, Basketball, Skating, Athletics, Karate, Gymnastics, Mallakhambh, Table Tennis, Archery, Kabaddi, Carom & Chess etc. 
Speaking on the occasion to disclose the details about this annual sports meet for various schools from the Northern suburbs, Mr. Karunakar Shetty, Vice President of the Gymkhana briefed about the role played by the Gymkhana in promoting sports . “Poinsur Gymkhana is committed to development of children into Sports. For our annual sports meet, every year we find rise in number of participants. This year, we have 6000 participants coming from different schools in Northern Suburbs. We charge very reasonable fees of Rs. 150/- per participant and big trophies are given to the winners. To motivate the participants, who missed the medals, we award points to those who secure 4th 5th 6th place and for all the participants we issue participation certificates which not only signed by Gymkhana official but also by the administrator of the respective sports activity from the Mumbai district.”
Coaching Camps for children
Besides Mr. Karunakar Shetty, the Members of the managing Committee for the ongoing sports meet Mr. Harshad Mehta, Trustee, Mr. Mukesh Bhandari, president, Bharat Parekh, Treasurer, Mr. Raja Navre, Administrator, Mr. Harish rao, Chairman Sports Committee, Shriraj Nair,Secretary-KVSC, Rajesh Desai, Prof. D.P.Mehta, Ms. Merle D’souza were also present during this interaction with the media and spoke about the regular activities of the Gymkhana. Indian Cricket Captain Rohit Sharma & Indian Women’s Cricket team player Poonam Raut both residents of Borivali have been part of this club in the past. In fact, a special felicitation function has been organised by the Gymkhana next month to honour Poonam Raut.
What is interesting to note that the coaching camps under the supervision of reputed coach have been conducted throughout the year in various games like Gymnastics, Athletics, Mallakhamb, Judo/Karate, Football, Cricket, Basketball, Skating, Archery, Yoga & Aerobics . Surprisingly, for the most costliest game like Cricket, the fees for Children non members are just Rs. 650/- per month with provision of Cricket equipments, except for the clothes and shoes which are to be provided by parents to their children. For other games, the fees range between Rs. 400 to Rs.950/- per month for non members. And In addition to this, there is Jogging Track and Gymnasium facility in the Gymkhana.
