DY Patil SA crash against MIG CC


71st Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament

Defending champions D.Y. Patil SA crashed to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of MIG CC on the second day of their Group-A league match of the of the 71st Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2018, sponsored Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd and played at the DY Patil Stadium, Nerul on Sunday.

 

Playing on their home ground, DY Patil’s innings folded at 233 in 67.1 overs. Sarfraz Khan (63 runs), Kaustubh Pawar (48 runs) and Sidharth Chitnis (42 runs) propped the DY Patil total, Pratik Dabholkar (4/51) and Nikhil Date (3/57) were amongst the wickets.

 

In reply MIG had no problems in surpassing the total as they reached 234 for 4 wickets in 53.2 overs. Gaurav Jathar played a match-winning unbeaten 91 runs, while Kevin D’Almeida (72 runs) and Swapnil Salvi (32 not out) helped complete the win.

 

Hosts Mumbai Police scored a 30 run victory over MCA Colts in a Group-C contest at the Police Gymkhana ground. Batting first the policemen amassed a total of 327 for 8 wickets in 70 overs. Shrikant Limbole (96 runs), Swapnil Kulaye (85 runs), Mayur Sanap (50 runs) and Shahid Shaikh (31 runs) were responsible for guiding the cops to the big innings. In reply, MCA Colts were skittled out for 297 all out in 62.1 overs. Chinmay Sutar (86 runs), Agni Chopra (42 runs) and Srujan Athawale (38 runs) tried to keep the MCA youngsters in the chase. Prasad Patil (3/51) and Nitish Salekar (3/76) bowled well to help Mumbai Police win.

 

Meanwhile, Cricket Club of India completed a comfortable six wickets win against Islam Gymkhana in a Group-C league match, at the Islam Gymkhana ground.

 

Having bundled out Islam Gym for a paltry 106 in 35.2 overs on the opening day, CCI easily chased down the required runs, scoring 107 for the loss of four wickets in 26.5 overs. Resuming at the overnight total of 55 for 2, CCI’s overnight unbeaten number three batsman Alpesh Ramjani remained not out on 41 and keeping him company in the middle was Vinit Indulkar who scored 13 runs when they completed the win with plenty to spare. Medium pacer Danish Shaikh finished with a fine effort taking 3 wickets for 32 round.

 

Meanwhile in Group-C, New Hind Sporting Club were in complete command and romped to an eight-wicket win against Victory CC at the New Hind ground. New Hind restricted Victory CC to 201 all out in 51.2 overs and then comfortably crossed the lime scoring 203 for two wickets in just 19.5 overs.  Openers Karan Shah 96 runs (55b, 75m, 10×4, 5×6) and Parikshit Valsangkar 67 runs (44b, 71m, 5×4, 4×6) with a solid 165 run first wicket partnership laid the foundation for New Hind’s victory Off spinner Neil Narvekar (2/22) was Victory CC’s only successful bowler.
