In another Group-E encounter, which was a low scoring affair, Railways Shekhar Surve (-130) overcame Mandpeshwar Civic Foundation’s Dharmesh Mistry (-100)  350-265 to register his second win and finish in second position. He joins Thakkar in the last 16 round.

Later, Sharma (-175) put behind that setback and easily defeated Railways K. Venkatesh (-400) who found his handicap a bit too steep and was unable to put up a fight. Venkatesh just about  managed to cover his handicap of 400 points as Sharma went to race to a 375-2 victory.

Jambusaria and Sharma both finished with two wins each, but the former with a better point average clinched the top spot in the group. Both have progressed to the knockout (last 16) phase of the tournament.
