The Shekhar Bangera Football Goalkeeping Academy will be conducting coaching cum training camp for girls’ U-16 and women goalkeepers. This coaching program for goalkeepers will cater solely to girls of various age groups and it’s the first of the kind initiative in Mumbai.
The Academy specifically aims to promote, develop and uplift the standard of football goalkeepers. All school teams participating in the inter-schools competition and football clubs which play in the local leagues can take advantage of this coaching scheme by sending their goalkeepers to learn the basics and hone their skills and become top class goalkeepers.
Bangera, a very dependable goalkeeper had represented the AIFF XI team and had also played for Maharashtra and Orkay Mills will be in-charge of the training program. The tall goalkeeper Bangera holds an AFC–football goalkeepers coaching license (AFC- Malaysia). He will be former India International Surendra Kumar, who will be the head coach and many other qualified coaches.
The coaching sessions are held at two centres, Cross Maidan, Churchgate and at the Lions Sports Complex, Milan Subway, Santacruz (West). The camp will commence from the second week of October and will be conducted till May 2019. The camp will be held twice a week on Saturday and Sunday.
