India’s Ashutosh Pednekar wins Racketlon World Championship


 

Indian Naval Officer Ashutosh Pednekar has won the Men’s Singles 45+ Racketlon World Championship 2018 in Zurich yesterday. Ashutosh who plays Squash and tennis well started practicing badminton and table tennis seriously at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana for the past three months, where he is a member. And this practice helped him to add points to his overall tally of score. Former national level TT player Jagannath Mohite who recently played with Ashutosh was all praise for his progress in the game of TT badminton. “Ashutosh has a very good footwork and has the ability to play a controlled game, standing away from the table,” he said.

It was Mr. Mohite was the first to  break  this news to magzmumbai , which was confirmed by Mr. KK Cheema, former international badminton player, who is the President of Racketlon India Sports Association. This combination sport will soon be introduced in India. Another Indian Krishna Kotak also did well to secure 14th Position in the world in Men’s 55+ age group. This was his debut in this tournament.

Racketlon is a combination sport in which competitors play a sequence of the four most popular racket sports: table tennis, badminton, squash, and tennis. One set is played in each sport, in the order from the smallest to the biggest racket. Each of the four sets are played with running score to 21 points, with a margin of two points needed to finish a set.
