School children are set to be engaged in mind games as they will have an opportunity to compete in the IIFL-Mumbai Inter-Schools Team Chess Championship, which is scheduled to be played at the G.D. Somani School, Cuffe Parade on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26.

 

This two-day event is Mumbai biggest chess tournament for school kids and is being organized by the Academy of Chess Training (ACT)- SMCA & ICS and will be conducted under the aegis of Mumbai City District Chess Association (MCDCA).

 

Around 400 students from various schools in the city are expected to take part in this mega team championship.

 

Praful Zaveri, chief organizer of the championship, says “Team events like these not only fosters unity but also help children in team bonding. I am confident that the IIFL-Mumbai Inter-Schools Team Chess Championship will provide children a platform to strategize and work together in best spirit of sportsmanship”.

 

Nagesh Guttula, CEO of SMCA highlighted the benefits and importance of organizing such championships. “Chess helps develop young minds. Team events provide children a chance to come up with clever thinking to make collective decisions and support each other. I hope children take advantage of such tournaments as iit will definitely help to overall improve their skills and game.”
