Former Prime Minister of India Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away few minutes ago at AIMS. An official announcement about his sad demise was made by official sources at AIMS. Delhi around 5.05 pm. He was 93. After admission to the hospital, Mr. Vajpayee was in a critical condition and was on life support system for the past 24 hours.
Mr. Vajpayee who was also a poet served as the Prime Minister of India on three occasions, first for a term of 13 days in 1996, then for a period of eleven months from 1998 to 1999, and finally from 1998 to 2004. He was among the founding members of the erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh which he also headed from 1968 to 1972. He served as the Minister of External Affairs in the cabinet of Prime Minister Morarji Desai.
