Ahuja, Ghadge score tight wins

Sumit Ahuja from Ulhasnagar showed tremendous fighting spirit as he came back from the brink of defeat to overcome Akhil Sayd of Vashi by a tight 4-3 margin in a best-of-7 frames second round match of the ECC All India Open 6-Red Snooker Tournament 2018, and played at the Elphinstone Cricket Club billiards room.

Sayed started with a flourish and quickly won the first three frames to race away tto a 3-0 lead. But, Ahuja not prepared to give up without putting up a fight clawed his way back and turned things around by pocketing the next four frames to snatch a deserving 16-46, 9-45, 18-27, 40-1, 36-18, 54-1 and 37-17 victory.

In another closely contested encounter, Nikhil Ghadge of Western Railway managed to overcome Sagar Desai by a 4-3 scoreline. Ghadge potted steadily and compiled a break of 47 in the fourth frame as he managed to pull off a 7-59, 41-38, 49-73, 47(47)-12, 35-26, 10-38 and 35-3 win to advance to the third round.
