Mangaonkar Sails into round 3


 

Top seed Mahesh Mangaonkar lived up to his billing, outplaying Ch Arun Kumar in a second round match of the 43rd Maharashtra State Men’s Squash tournament, organised under the aegis of SRFI and ]SRAM and sponsored by JSW, Raheja Vivarea, Shoppers Stop, Britannia, Indospace Logistics, Ellora Consultant & Crossover Catalyst played at their international standard glass-back squash courts on Monday.

Ch Arun Kumar of  Andhra Pradesh was no match to India no 3, who hardly broke a sweat on his way to an 11-0, 11-2, 11-4  victory. Unseeded Aryaman Jaising put up a fine performance to overpower Divit Poojary, who is seeded in the 17/32 bracket by an 11-3, 11-2, 11-6 margin. Aryaman will meet the top seed Mahesh Mangaonkar in the 3rd round.

 

In another match, Vijay Kumar of Chennai who is seeded in the 9/16 bracket dropped only 5 points on his way to an 11-3, 11-1, 11-1 victory over Amarendu Srivastava. Meanwhile, 16-year-old Yash Fadte of Goa and seeded in the 9/16 bracket got an easy passage to the third round defeating Krish Shah by a comfortable 11-3, 11-1, 11-6 scoreline.
