Favourites Otters Club came up with the perfect strategies as they defeated NSCI 4-1 to bag the crown at the ISP Inter Club Juniors Squash League 2018, organised by the Indian Squash Professionals, sponsored by Syska and Wadhwa group and played at the Otters Club Squash Courts on Tuesday.
The first tie for Otters club started on a shaky note as Kavya Bansal lost the first game to Ahaan Bhansali of NSCI. Kavya, however, bounced back to win the match with a comfortable 8-11, 11-7, 11-1 margin. Varun Shah faced a stiff competition from Suren Gupta who won the opening game and was poised to win the second game at 15-15 but Varun regained control of the match by holding his nerves and winning the game 17-15, Varun then used his momentum to win the third game with a comfortable 11-5 margin. Tanay Punjabi was expected to seal the deal for his team considering his run up to the finals but Krish Shah put up a brave performance to beat Tanay 10-12, 11-8, 11-7 in a closely contested match. With Otters club up 2-1, Adesh stepped up for his team when it mattered most to defeat the inform Vivaan Bhatia and bring home the Trophy. Agastya did not get a chance to play as his opponent Diva Shah retired conceding the point to Otters.
Otters Club walked away with a prize money of 40,000 while runners-up NSCI were awarded 25,000 for their efforts.
In another match, CCI B and Jindal Squash Academy played for the 3rd place and a prize money of 15,000. Ct Jindal Squash Academy managed to defeat CCI B 3-2 courtesy of a walk over from Kabir Taraporewala of CCI-B
