Tata Power lift First Division title


A charged up Tata Power emerged champions winning the First Division title in the MHAL Hockey League 2017-2018. Tata Power hardly encountered much opposition from a heavily depleted Rebels Sports Club and enjoyed complete domination as they romped to a 7-0 win in the final, played at the MHAL-Mahindra stadium, Churchgate. Tata’s enjoyed a 2-0 half-time advantage.

Rebels Sports Club started the match without half their regular side as five key players were out nursing injuries and one was down with viral fever and there was nothing they could do to prevent Tata Power from running away with the match and the title.

 

The highlight of Tata Power’s triumph was Harish Shindgi  who notched up a fine hat-trick hitting the target in the 15th, 51st and 60th minutes after Ganesh Patil had opened the scoring in the 11th minute. , Rahul Shinde contributed with two goals in the 33rd and 45th minutes and Ankit Gurav added on in the 48thminute to complete the tally of goals.

 

Tata Power received the First Division ‘Champions’ trophy and a cheque of Rs 40,000 from MHAL President, Mangha Singh Bakshi and Hon. Gen. Secretary, Ram Singh Rathor. Rebels Sports Club was presented with the runner-up trophy and a cash award of Rs 20,000.
