Tiny Jash Modi, ranked among top eight in the country in his age group, produced stupendous performance while lowering the colours of State-ranked Jignesh Rahatwal and Aadil Anand to steer debutants MCF (Mandpeshwar Civil Federation) to an unexptected 3-2 win over Sane Guruji Academy ‘A’ of the MSDTTA Inter-Club Division I tie, at Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club here today.
MCF captain Akshay Gogri gave a MCF a flying start with a 11-8, 8-11,11-8, 11-6 win over Aadil Anand. Then Yash, barely 13, took over, as he outhit Jignesh 12-10, 11-9, 11-6 to make it 2-0 for MCF. But with their flashy Swayam Imbrahampur going down to Rishabh Sawant 2-11, 8-11, 11-8, 6-11, and Jignesh unsettling Akshay with a 11-8, 11-5, 11-6 win it was left to Yash,who relentlessly kept on driving on both flanks to emerge the day’s hero with 9-11, 13-11, 11-6, 11-9 win.
Defending champions JVPGC , however,encountered no such hiccups with an identical 3-0 and wins over Sane Guruji TT Academy and Gomantak TT Academy ‘A’ to stay at the top of the table.
