I.C. Extension, Borivali got the better of MYJ Sports Club, Malad 3-2 via the tie-break in the final of the Goan Cultural Association 7-A Side Football Fiesta 2018 and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi ground, Borivali.
The jubilant I.C. Extension players proudly pose with the winner’s trophy and the cash award of Rs 25,000 along with Chief Guest, Keegan Pereira, an Indian football player after the final of the Goan Cultural Association 7-A Side Football Fiesta.
The summit clash was quite an exciting affair as both teams went on the offensive from the start and several goal-scoring opportunities at either end, but the strikes from both sides failed to put the finishing touches and as a result the scores were locked goalless at the end of regulation period.
In the penalty shootout duel, I.C. Extension successfully converted through Allan Dias, Johnny Coutinho and Shailesh Jadhav while the Malad outfit could only score two through Nilesh Korgaonkar and Manish Koli.
The champions I.C. Extension received the winner’s trophy and a cash award of Rs 25,000 from Chief Guest, Keegan Pereira, an Indian football player. MYJ were presented with the runners-up trophy and a prize of Rs 15,000.
Results – final: I.C. Extension 3 (Allan Dias, Johnny Coutinho, Shailesh Jadhav) beat MYJ SC 2 (Nilesh Korgaonkar, Manish Koli).
