Sunrise Cricket Club scored a 47-run win against Apollo Cricket Club in a first round match of the 69th Nawab Salar Jung Open Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament, which is being organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Islam Gymkhana ground.
Electing to bat first, Sunrise CC were provided an ideal start by opening bat Bhupen Lalwani who scored a rapid 53 runs. Middle order batsmen Khalid K. contributed 55 runs and with decent knocks from Sunil Malik (25) and Akshay Derekar (29), Sunrise CC posted a total of 197 for the loss of 8 wickets from their 20 overs. For Apollo CC the only bowler who found success was Siddharth Gule (2/30). Apollo CC failed in their chase as only Akshay Panchavati (35), Shubham M. (35) and Zaheer K. (30) were able to get some runs on the board and their innings folded for a paltry 150 run in 18.3 overs. Khalid K. (3/17) and Sajid A. (3/20) were mainly responsible in getting the wickets to bowl Sunrise to victory.
In another match, Sind Cricket Club defeated Young Friends Cricket Club by a 38-run margin.
