Bandra Gym football report:
Ira Makhijani’s first half strike helped FC Mumbaikar sideline IC United 1-0 in a Women’s first round match of the 25th Bandra Gymkhana Open Rink Football Tournament and played under floodlights at the Demonte Park Recreational Ground, Bandra.
Baze Future Sports also recorded an identical 1-0 win against India Rush FC with Sai Sankhe scoring the lone goal in another women’s encounter.
Meanwhile in the third women’s match, Leaders Football Club rode on the twin strikes from prolific goal-scorer Lian Mathews to blank fancied BodyLine SC 4-0. Delfiya Pereira and Laura Estibeiro scored the other two goals for the winning side.
In a veterans men’s second round match, Macabbi SC defeated Spartans SC by a fluent 3-1 margin. Martin D’Silva, Clint Fernandes and John Fernandes scored a goal each for Macabbi while Agnelo D’Silva scored Spartans lone goal.
In a hard-fought men’s Open second round encounter, SKC, Vasai prevailed over Bombastics SC by a narrow 2-1 margin. The goal-scorers for the Vasai side were Rashid Pillay and Reju Lopes, while Bombastic pulled one back through Franco Salian.
