Greater Mumbai’s Darus Nader, a well-built newcomer in the men’s singles, put up impressive allround game to outwit and outhit Mumbai Suburbs’ Jagtap Nanavati to sail into men’s singles last 32 in the Maharashtra State Open badminton tournament, organized by Badminton Organisation of Raigad at DY Patil Stadium’s badminton courts today. Till 8-all, both fought tooth and nail, but Jagtap seems to be losing steamas Daras kept him at the baseline with some fast- paced rallies punctuated with some stinging smashes on his body to romp home with a 30-19 win.
In some other encounters in the men’s singles, top seeded Kaushal Dharmamer did not have to sweat much as he brushed aside Shubham Chatiawar 30-12,while Vineet Kumar overpowered Susant Patil 30-25 and Santosh Gupta downed Shivam Bairagi 30-21.
The matches upto quarterfinals are played on best of one game of 30 points basis, while semifinals and finals will be of best of three games of 15 points.
