Afreen to lead Maharashtra women


 

Central defender Afreen Peerbhoy of Mumbai District has been entrusted the job of captaining the 20-member Maharashtra (WIFA) team that will be participating in the AIFF 23rd Senior Women’s National Championship 2017-18, to be held at Cuttack, Odisha.

 

The team was selected after long periods of trials, training sessions and practice matches against local clubs. The Head Coach of the team is AFC A License holder Jeddy Almeida of Mumbai. He will be accompanied by Manager Annie Paul of Nagpur and Physiotherapist Pooja Mehta of Mumbai.

 

Maharashtra has been clubbed with Manipur, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

Defenders – Delfiya Pereira (Mumbai), Neha Koli (Dhule), Pranali Shetty (Mumbai), Nikita Jadhao (Osmanabad), Riya Sukhdeve (Nagpur), Afreen Peerbhoy (Mumbai), Priyanka Murade (Pune), Rutuja Gunwant (Pune).

 

Midfielders – Pooja Dhamal (Mumbai), Kimberly Fernandez (Mumbai), Shivani Harer (Pune).

 

Forwards – Namrata Thakur (Mumbai), Sonali Chemate (Pune), Jyoti Mehra (Mumbai), Tara Khatoon (Mumbai), Hiba Faquih (Pune), Mrudul Shinde (Kolhapur), Muriel Adam (Pune).
