Piloted by striker Himanshu Rao’s fine hat-trick, Air India cruised to a fluent 4-1 win against Sellebrity SC in a Super Division match of the MDFA League 2017-2018 and played at the Goan Sports Association’s Ground, Cross Maidan.
Air India better organised in both attack and defence faced quite a bit of challenge from Sellebrity early in the match and both teams went into the break with the scoreboard blank. However, immediately after the change of ends, Himanshu finally broke the deadlock scoring in the 46th minute to give Air India the lead. Fourteen minutes later Himanshu was again in the thick of action and this time he scored two quick goals to help Air India take a commanding 3-0 lead before Alok Chavan increased the lead by netting the fourth in the 70th minute. Sellebrity managed to reduce the deficit through Sidhant Pathak’s goal in the 75th minute.
In another match, FCI got the better of Companeroes SC by a 4-2 margin. For FC striker Mithilesh Kasare netted a brace of goals while Suraj Bhagat and Harish Solanki scored one each, while Companeroes scored through Zeeshan Shaikh and Praneet Gaikwad.
