Seasoned striker Melwyn Vaz showed that he has not lost his scoring form by striking a brace of goals which was the feature of Star of Canara SC’s convincing 4-1 win against Jai Hind SC in a quarter-final match of the 11th Late Adv. A. R. Kudrolli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament 2017, organised by the Karnatak Sporting Association and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan. The others who played a hand in the victory were Oliver Benis and Roysten Castelino, both netting a goal each to confirm Canara’s passage to the semi-finals.
In another quarter-final match, Bombay Fort SC helped by the twin strikes from Akshaya Agarwal defeated Karnatak SC by a close 3-2 margin. Sachin Bangera netted the third goal for the winners, while Roger Sam struck both the goals for Karnatak side.
