Warrior overcome Juhu Sparks


MumbI Warriors FC got the better of Juhu Sparks by a narrow 2-1 margin in a Super Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association League 2016-2017, and played under lights at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel late on Friday evening. Striker Yusuf Banky fired Warrior in front with a goal in the very seventh minute before Huzan Kazi doubled the lead with a strike in the 65th minute. The Juhu got a consolation goal when Joywin Vasalkar found the net in the first minute of additional period.

Earlier, Mother Theresa Foundation FC proved too good as they blanked South Mumbai FC 5-0 in a Second Division match. Striker Liston Narlekar notched up a fine hat-trick while Tejendra Koli and Jonal Almeida chipped in with each to complete the winning tally.

Results – Super Div: Mumbai Warriors 2 (Yusuf Banky 7th, Huzan Kazi 65th) beat Juhu Sparks 1 (Joywin Vasalkar 90+1st).

Div-II: Mother Theresa Foundation FC 5 (Liston Narlekar 3, Tejendra Koli, Jonal Almeida) beat South Mumbai FC 0.

Sagar SC 2 (Praful Mangela, Yogendra Meher) beat Hugh Fernandes Academy 0.

 

Hockey trials at MHAL

The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd (MHAL) will be conducting trials to select the Mumbai team to participate in the forthcoming 7th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship to be played at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from  April 27 to  May 7, 2017.  The selection trials will be held at the MHAL Mahindra Stadium from Monday, March 20 to Wednesday, March 22 at 7.30 am.  Players interested in representing the Mumbai team are requested to attend the selection trials along with their playing kits.
