Apeksha,Amrita progress into semis


Apeksha Bhagwat of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Amrita Jaisingh of J.P. Morgan were the outstanding performers advancing to the ladies singles and mixed doubles semi-finals on the opening day the 4th edition of the 11even Sports Inter-Corporate Table Tennis Tournament, promoted by NSportz and played at the Khar Gymkhana on Saturday.

In the ladies singles quarter-finals, Apeksha easily defeated Swapna Bajpai of J.P. Morgan 11-4, 11-4, 11-3, while Amrita also had things much her own way and scored a comfortable 11-3, 11-7, 11-7 win against Kavita Ghosh of Reliance Industries.

Later in the mixed doubles quarter-final round, Apeksha teamed up with Vishal Yadav and outplayed Ayushi Bansal and Gautam Bhatra of Reliance Industries 11-9, 11-5, 11-6; while Amrita in the company of her partner Chetan Dere were engaged in a keen tussle with Anita Raj and Gunjan Wagle before pulling through in five games at 11-8, 11-9, 6-11, 2-11, 11-4 to advance to the semi-finals.

The event organized under the auspices of MCDTTA and MSDTTA, promises to be bigger and more exciting than the previous editions and offers total cash prizes of over Rs 1 lakh, attractive trophies & medals.
