Diminutive Aditya Dev (84) and skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal, a lanky rightarm leg spinner (5/32) were the architect in defending champions Rizvi Sprinfield making the title round of the B.Khichadia-Khar Gymkhana Suburban schools cricket tournament played at Khar Gymkhana here today.
Rizvi, the holders for the suburban schools trophy for umpteen years, once again will take on Borivali’s Swami Vivakanand school for the coveted honours next week. The SV school, earlier, had defeated their sister school from Kandvali by 65 runs.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Rizvi were 164 for six in the 45-over tie. However , a century partnership between Aditya Dev (84) and Alsad Shaikh (45) zoomed their total to 279 before they wer allout for 279.Though Yasholdhan opener started their chase earnestly, as they hammered the pace attack of Shreyas Boger and Akash Yadav and reached the half century mark in just six overs. But the introduction of double spin attack of Yasasvi (leg spin) and Shreyas Mandlik (Off spinner) put breaks to their efforts as wickets continue to tumble as they were bowled out for 87 with Yashasvi returning with impressive figures of five for 32 off nine overs.
