Udaya SC snatched a close 2-1 win against Satya Vijaya SC in an absorbing quarter-final round match of the 10th Late Adv. A.R. Kudrolli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament 2016, conducted by The Karnatak Sporting Association and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan.
In an evenly contested encounter, in which both teams played good attacking brand of football, Udaya against the run of play struck the opening goal of the match through Clive Coutinho in the very seventh minute of the match.
Satya Vijaya came back fighting in the second half and managed to restore parity when Ankit Chowta found the back of the net in the third minute after the break. But midway through the session, Udaya’s playmaker Mohit Gatty scored from a brilliant free-kick to help his team secure a win and advance to the semi-finals.
Thereafter, Udaya defended stoutly and foiled the repeated attempts from Satya Vijaya attackers and deny them from getting an equalizing second goal.
Results (quarter-final round): Udaya SC 2 (Clive Coutinho, Mohit Gatty) beat Satya Vijaya SC 1 (Ankit Chowta).
