Last year’s finalists Swami Vivekanand thrashed Vasant Vihar (Thane) by 9 wickets to the win the final of the Poinsur Gymkhana inter-school cricket tournament, played at their ground at Kandivali here today. The highlight of their was the fine allround performance of their skipper, Suved Parkar, who apart from capturing four wickets, hit up an unbeaten 65 to steer his school to nine-wicket win. It was after a gaP of three years that the Birivali won the final.
Batting first, the Thane school could hardly make their presence felt, against the medium pace attack of Suved Parkar (4/11) and Akash Mishra (2/29) and were dismissed for 141 in 39th over of the 40-over final.The Swami Vivekanand openers made a brisk start. After losing an early wicket, Rahul Kesai and skipper Suved Parkar, batted with aplomb to steer their side to comfortable win. Suved hit nine fours and a six in his 65, while Rahul had three fours and a six in his 55.
