5star CentralBank tame KenkreFC


Producing a 5-star performance, Central Bank of India began their campaign on a high as they handed Kenkre FC a 5-0 defeat in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the Cooperage ground on Tuesday evening. Central Bank enjoyed a solid 4-0 half-time lead.

Striker Fahim Faki played a key role by scoring two goals while Scott D’Souza, Rishi Shinde and Ravi Sonune netted one each to complete the winning tally for Central Bank.

The newly formed Central Bank outfit comprising youngsters dominated play from the start and hit the target at regular intervals. Faki opened the scoring in the 16th minute and five minutes later D’Souza added the second before Shinde increased the lead to 3-0 in the 26th minute. Central Bank continued to push forward and two minutes from the break Faki scored his second and the team’s fourth goal.

In the second period, Central Bank seemed more relaxed and scored just one more goal late in the match through Ravi Sonune in the 87th minute to wrap up the match.

There were two bookings, both for reckless challenges in the match. Referee Firoz Shaikh showed the yellow cards to Aditya Gole of Kenkre in the 19th minute and Central Bank’s Sunny Gill in the 68th minute.

On Wednesday, Mumbai Customs take on Air India at 3.30 pm.
