Navy Children down KC College


Navy Children from Colaba scored an emphatic 75-61 win over KC College in the  boys under-19 basketball final of the DSO’s (Divisional Sports Office)’s basketball tournament, organised and sponsored by Vision Sports Reconnect and Fairplay Sports Management at Shishuvan School ’s courts at King’s Circle (Matunga).

 

The final proved to be quite a thrilling affair with fortunes fluctuating from quarter to quarter before  the Navy boys emerge triumphant. The winners dominated in the opening quarter before  the KC Collegians fought back   in the second. Though the third quarter went in favour of the Navy boys, the KC Collegians tied the score 52-52 in the fourth quarter. However, the resultant  fifth quarter saw Navy boys once again in dominant mood as they clinched the  decider 23-9 to emerge 75-61 winners.

 

The corresponding girls  under-19 final between Cathedral and St. Xavier’s saw the former winning the contest 38-29 with fine display by their captain Zena Shroff (10 points), while Kamal Mehta excelled for the losers. Don Bosco from Matunga, who bagged the under-17 title  wih a 40-28 win over Cathedral, were beaten by St. Joseph’s  (Wadala)  in the under-14 final.

BOYS (Under-19):  Navy Children 75 (Pankaj Negi 14, Suraj Singh  25, Akash C. 22) bt KC College 61 (Trishul Kosambi 16, Mayuresh  S 18, Niket Gala 10). (Under-17): Don Bosco (Matunga)  40 (Sankalp P 22)  bt Cathedral 28 (Shivam Mehta) 10. (Under -14): St. Joseph’s (Wadala) bt Don Bosco (Matuga) 37-19.

 

GIRLS (U-19): Cathedral 38 (Zena Shroff 10) bt St.Xavier’s 29 (Kamal Mehta 16). (Under-14): Bombay Scottish bt Cathedral  24-23.
