HDFC down MAJESCo to meet TCS in final
HDFC team comprising of Suraj Chandrashekhar and Yash Doshi combined well to down MJAESCO 3-1 in the semi finals of P-3 Sports-3rd Mumbai Inter-Corporate table tennis tournament, held at Khar Gymkhana today afternoon. Only match HDFC lost was that of Yash Doshi, but they won the crucial doubles match, to move into finals of team event. In finals they meet Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) , who beat Motilal Oswal with a comfortable 3-0 margin. TCS have a balanced team of Anuj Shah, Vishal Yadav, Akash Damle & Deepak Vishwakarma.
For the women’s singles, the organizers had arranged league matches for the winners of five groups. And, Nutan Dhikle of SBI, emerged outright winner winning all four matches with ease, against her four opponents. She only dropped a game against Isha Shah in the league match against her.
In the Veterans’ Singles, Jayant Kulkarni was unlucky , as he lost a five game battle against Yogesh Desai in quarter finals of Veterans’ singles. At one stage, Jayant led 2-1, but lost the next two games to Yogesh, who used his tactics, to block Jayant’s strong forehand. In other well contested match in the second round Ravindra Ekande went down fighting against Ulhas Shirke in a five game set. With his strong backhand Ravindra had leveled the set score at 2-2, but lost the decider, as his opponent played on his forehand, using his variety of services.
