Fourteen teams (7 Elite and 7 Super Division) will be participating in the MDFA annual Independence Cup football tournament to played at St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on August 14 and 15.
The Elite clubs participating in the event, include last year’s winners Indian Navy, runners-up Western Railway, former champions Air India and Mumbai Customs, Union Bank of India, Central Bank of India and Kenkre FC. The Super Division clubs who will be seen in action are West Zone United, Century Rayon, HDFC, Dena Bank, Central Railway MD, Millat FC and Young Boys.
Navy and Western Railway have been given a bye into the quarter-finals of this competition, which will be played on a knockout format.
