Tushatr Poojary’s doubles strikes powered Ruthless-Tigers FC to a narrow 2-1 win over from Remackyn SA in a concluding and seventh round league match of the inaugural Borivali Premier Football League (BPFL), organized by the Borivali Sports Foundation, and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi Ground, Borivali (W).
The Tigers suffered an early setback as Denny John with a 10th minute strike put Remackyn in the lead. But Tigers fought back strongly and Tushar fired home the first goal in the 22nd minute to restore parity and three minutes later was once again on target with the second goal to seal the win. Tushar for his fine efforts was rightly rewarded with the ‘Big Boss Player of the match’ award.
In another match, Challengers FC riding on Allan Lobo’s lone second half strike got the better of Shelar FC by a solitary 1-0 margin. Chellengers goalkeeper Rakesh Poojary was named ‘Big Boss Player of the match’.
Tigers, who were unbeaten, finished at the top with 19 points, while Challengers are in third position with 11 points from 3 wins and 2 draws and are virtually assured of a place in Saturday’s semi-final. The top four teams advance to the last four round.
