Lanky Kritika Chhabra scored a brace to star in RSB Vidya Mandir, Juhu’s thumping 5-0 win over Air India HS (Santacruz) in the girls under-17 pre-quarterfinals of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament (for Suburban schools) of Maharashtra government’s DSO (Divisional Sports Office), organized by Vision Sports Reconnect and Fairplay Sports Management at Francis D’Assisi high school ground (Borivali) ground here today. It was their captain Anagha Jankiraman, who opened the scoring in slushy outfield, followed by Kritika, who added two more as they led 3-0 at the breather. Though the Juhu girls dominated even in the second half too, they failed to add any more goals to their first half score.
In another girls tie, Bombay Scottish (Powai) beat Ryan International ICSE (Goregaon) 2-0 with both the goals coming in the first half through Mayanka Raghunathan and Katherine Lawrence.
In the boys under-14 section, Versova’s Children Academy after being held goalless by Bombay Scottish (Powari) won 4-3 via tie-breaker. Jamnabai ICSE, thanks to brace by Anshveer Nagpal bt Goregaon’s St. Thomas 2-0.
