Inspired by the brilliance of international Bhagyashree Dalvi, Maharashtra made a bright winning start as they registered a thumping 8-0 victory against Chhattisgarh in their opening group match of the AIFF National Junior Women’s Football Championship – 2016-17 and played at Cuttack, Odisha on Monday.

Bhagyashree starred with five goals and also had a hand in the other three goals as Maharashtra totally dominated the proceedings and completely outplayed their opponents. Former Junior India captain Karen Pais netted two goals and Tricia Colaco got one to round off the scoring tally.
Bhagyashree opened the goal scoring with a sublime finish to set the tone of the match. Junior India captain Karen Pais joined the party with a clinical finish in the 42nd minute to provide Maharashtra with a 2-0 half-time advantage. Strong midfield action and good attacking play by the Maharashtra attacker in the second half enabled them add a further 6 goals to complete the rout.
Result: Maharashtra 8 (Bhagyashree Dalvi 5, Karen Pais 2, Tricia Colaco) beat Chhattisgarh 0.
