With openers Akhil Rajput and Shashank Singh putting on 124 runs in just 7.5 overs, Shivji Park Warriors rattled up 220 foe six in 20 0vers against Thane Marathas in the second leg of the double leg Mitsui Shoji 5-Team League here at Police Gymkhana ground, on Friday. In reply, Thane Marathas , but for Shaban Shaikh gallant 53, were never in picture and ended with 131 for seven. With today’s sixth loss Thane Marathas are virtually out of the contention.
Defending champions Ghatkopar Jets were well-served by opener Karan Nande, who hit up a fine aggressive century, but his efforts were in a lost cause, as rest of the batsmen could not match his efforts as Mumbai Police City Riders chased their score of 201 with seven wickets in hand. For the City Riders skipper Shrikant Limbole hit a fine unbeaten knock of 73 with seven fours and three sixes. He and Omkar Jadhav (n.o. 51) put on 105 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket to steer them to their third win.
