Twins, Aarti and Jyoti rewrite records

It was yet another eye-catching display by the Patil twin sisters – Aarti and Jyoti. Both set new marks in 200m individual medley and 50m breast stroke events respectively in  the Glenmark-GMAAA Sub-junior and junior Aquatic meet, sponsored by Glenmark Aquatic Foundation at Tata Swimming Pool, Chembur, here today. Overall, there were 14 individual  new records rewritten on the first two days.

For Jyoti, it was her second record-breaking gold, while for Aarti, it was her first. However, in both of Jyoti’s double feats, it was Aarti, who was pipped at the post on both the occasions.

Among other girls to share the day’s honours, were Trisha Karkhanis, of GAF, as she claimed 100m backstroke and 200m butterfly stroke events by eclipsing the old records in the same age group. Another impressive performer was Rayna Saldanha from Otters. She won golds in the 400m and 800m freestyle events, but she could not better the old marks.

Among boys, Siddharth Sanke, of GAF,  added two more golds – one with new record by winning the 50mbreast stroke event. On the opening day, Siddharth had won 100m breast stroke gold.
