‘The father of indian cinema, Dunduraj Govind Phalke, fondly known as Dadasaheb Phalke, who made a first film in India but astonishingly there’s not a single film office after his name, though India churns out maximum number of films than any other country in the world. We urge indian film makers to do the needful in the honour of Dadasaheb.’ Mr. Ashfaq, founder member of the trust Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation (DPFF) was urging during an awards ceremony constituted by them to honour the ‘Real’ people who spend ‘sweat and blood’ while making a film. These awards were bestowed upon people for their excellent services devoted to the indian Film and a Television industry, who always are behind the screen/scene but are equally instrumental in the success of a film.
The chief guest for the evening was Baba Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim Insaan (Maker of a film Messenger of God) who lighted the traditional ‘Diya’. The categories for the awards were like, Best Financial Advisor, Best Make-up, Best Musician, Best a Production Controller, Best Junior Artist Supplier, Best Casting Director, Best Critic, Best Still Photographer and so forth and so on. Even trade unions active in film industry were too felicitated and of course best actor, actress, producer, director, production house, etc were also announced. The event, which started quite late, was compered by Ankita Sharma and Kamya Panjabi. Though the duo made best efforts to make the show lively but mis-management was order of the day but was viewed patiently by the audience despite sweltering heat. The stage-dancing not very professional and only saving grace, in the entertainment section, was Vaishali Samant who crooned to her famous numbers beautifully.
It’s a good gesture on the part of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation to honour people who are not in the limelight and such awards certainly will boost their morale to do still better in their future projects.
