MumbaiFC to take on BengaluruFC


Mumbai FC are all charged up and high on confidence as they get ready to face off against Bengaluru FC in a 4th round match of the 2015-2016 AIFF Hero I-League football tournament, and to be played at the Cooperage ground on Wednesday evening. The match will kick-off at 7.00pm.

The Mumbai outfit, after two draws in the first two games, finally found success with a 2-1 win against Salgaocar SC, Goa on Sunday and also ended their goal drought by scoring two goals in the match. With five points, they are currently in fourth position on the league table.

Khalid Jamil, Head Coach of Mumbai FC, mentioned that the players are in an upbeat mood and ready to meet the challenge from the Bengaluru side, which has won all their three opening games to occupy pole position. “The win in the last match has boosted the morale and confidence of the team. All players are also fit to play against Bengaluru.
Steven Dias has recovered from a slight ankle niggle which kept him out of last game and is available for selection,” Jamil said after team had light training session.

“The preparations for the game against Bengaluru have started well and the boys are motivated after the first win. Bengaluru FC, are a good team but we have a decent record against them and with home support we hope we can continue the run,” he further stated.

The two teams have previously clashed four times and all have ended in draws. In the last meeting between the two teams, Mumbai FC came close to snatching an away win. The Mumbai outfit, were leading after Rahul Bheke had scored in the 67th but could not hold on to the advantage and conceded a late goal which was scored by Robin Singh in the final minutes of the match.

The Bengaluru outfit is expected to arrive in Mumbai late on Tuesday evening.

The contest on Wednesday between fierce rivals is certain to produce plenty of sparks and excitement and would be worth the trouble to make it to the Cooperage ground to witness all the action.
