Companeroes Yellow edged past Sacred Heart Boys by a narrow 3-2 margin in a men’s open first round match of the 23rd Annual Open Rink Football Tournament and played under floodlights at the Demonte Park Recreational Ground, Bandra. Oliver Bennis, Sheldon Rego and Carlton Miranda scored a goal each to clinch the win for Companeroes. Sacred Heart got their goals through Yesu and Camilo.
In another match, Holy Family, Chakala overcame AK Chimbai 1-0 to also advance to the second round. Striker Johnson Rego scored the lone goal for Holy Family.
Meanwhile, Sporting Sensation proved too good for Eddy Boys romping to a 3-0 victory with Yasir Abidi, Ryan Gracias and Alan D’Souza striking a goal each.
