Central Bank draw with Central Railway


A determined Central Bank of India and a spirited Central Railway shared the spoils as they played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage ground on Monday.

After a barren first half, the tempo picked up in the second period as fortunes fluctuated before the match finished in a draw. The railwaymen broke the deadlock with Ajinkya Nalavade scoring in the 53rd minute but Central Bank replied back strongly hitting the target twice through Russel Galbano in the 69th minute and Deep Moorjani in the 77th minute to grab a 2-1 lead. Central fought on gamely and managed to get the crucial equaliser through Rashid Shaikh in the 81st minute to force a division of two points.

The next Elite Division match will be played between Air India and ONGC on Wednesday, January 20 at 3.00pm.

Results – Elite Div: Central Bank of India 2 (Russel Galbano 69th, Deep Moorjani 77th) drew with Central Railway 2 (Ajinkya Nalavade 53rd, Rashid Shaikh 81st).
