Anikat,Radhika emerge supreme


Shuttlers Anikat Suravna of Poddar International School, Nerul and Radhika Dagaonkar of Lilavati Poddar School claimed the boys’ under-17 and girls’ under-17 badminton singles titles respectively in the inaugural Sports  For  All  (SFA)-India’s Premier Inter- School  Sporting  System, which is being conducted at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul on Wednesday.

Playing a fast attacking game from the start Anikat outplayed Divyansh Mitra of Don Bosco School, Nerul in the boys’ final winning in straight games at 21-2, 21-8 with a degree of comfort.

 

In the girls’ under-17 finals, Radhika also had things very much under control and easily sidelined Divya Hedge of Lilavati Poddar School cruising to a comfortable 21-11,  21-7 victory.

 

In the most interesting match of the day, Deeksha Hardasani (CNMS) showed excellent fighting spirit to overcome Gargee Degvekar (Apeejay School, Nerul) in three hard-fought games in the girls’ under-15 final. Deeksha dropped the opening game as Gargee managed to win by a narrow margin. But Deeksha clawed her way back into the contest by winning a tight second game to take the match into the third game. In the decider Deetksha held her nerves to pocket the decider to complete a 17-21, 24-22, 21-17 victory.

 

The boys’ under-15 singles title was won by Pranav Jain (Ryan International, Sanpada) who recorded an easy win against Avishkar Pawar (Apeejay School, Nerul) 21-10, 21-13.

Girls’ under-11: Manya Avlani (CNMS) bt Aalisha Naik (Dr. Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya School) 21-12, 21-14.

 

Boys’ under-13: Vaibhav Tewari (Reliance Foundation School) bt Udyat Jain (Poddar International, Powai) 22-20, 21-9.

 

Girls’ under-13: Mansi Karekar (Rajhans Vidyalaya) bt Sejal Pathrabe (DAV, Nerul) 21-17; 21-11.

 

Boys’ under-15: Pranav Jain (Ryan International, Sanpada) bt Avishkar Pawar (Apeejay School, Nerul) 21-10, 21-13.

 

Girls’ under-15: Deeksha Hardasani (CNMS) bt Gargee Degvekar (Apeejay School, Nerul) 17-21, 24-22, 21-17.
