NSCI-ISP Junior and Doubles Squash Championship
Top-seeded Aishwary Singh crashed out losing in four game to joint 3-4th seed Tushar Shahani in a boys’ under-21 (best-of-five game) semi-final encounter of the Rs one lakh prize-money NSCI-ISP Junior and Doubles Squash Championship, organized by the Indian Squash Professional (ISP) and played at the NSCI Club courts.
The number seed Aishwary started on a promising note by winning the opening game quite comfortably. But thereafter Tushar played with greater determination and fought back well to win the next three games to close out the match in his favour at 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 12-10 and advance to the final.
In the other semi-final, joint 3-4th seed Puneet Pareek got the better of Ajit Sharma 15-13, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8 to set up a title clash with Tushar.
The girl’s under-19 finals will be contested between the top two seeds Aarya Ogale and Anannya Morey. Top seed Aarya had quite an easy time against 3-4th seed Bavna Gayal who retired after losing the first two games at 11-6, 11-7. In the other semi-final second seed Annanya posted an easy straight games win against 3-4th seed Rani Gupta 11-0, 11-3, 11-2.
In the boys’ under-15 semi-final matches, second seed Deepak B Mandal tamed unseeded Yash Dhairyawan 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 and 3-4th seed Avinash Yadav prevailed over Yohann Poncha 11-3, 11-7, 11-4.
