Ami Ghia Shah, seven-times national and Uber cupper, was all praise for the concept of promoting the game of badminton at the grassroot level while inaugurating the National PNB Metlife West Zone Junior badminton Championships – Season 2, which gets off at Goregaon Sports Club from today.
Ashish Kumar, the director of Sara Foundation, the organizers of the event, stated that after their stupendous success in their opening North Zone chapter, which received tremendous response, the scene now shifted to Mumbai with over 1200 participants in age groups of under-17, under-15, under-13, under-11 and under-9 vying for top honours in their respective categories. The players, both boys and girls, have come from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Chhatisgarh and from various districts of Maharashtra.
Mr Niran Shah, of PNB Mertlife, said: “We are back with our season-2 venture, which has witnessed three fold increase from the earlier one. He was praise for the Sara Foundation, for taking the lead in promoting the game at the grassroot level.
The MBA new president Mr Arun Gandhi appreciated the efforts PNB Metlife is taking to promote the game all over and extended them the association’s full support. After the Mumbai leg, this national level event will also be held at Lucknow, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Guwahati. The finale will be held New Delhi on March 30.
