United Sports Club made a winning return to action as they defeated Mangalore Blues SC 3-1 in a league match of the 20th Late Shri Ramanath Payyade Memorial Football League 2015-2016, organised by the Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan. Dictating terms from the outset, United scored their goals through Ravish D’Souza, Akshay Devadiga and Noah D’Costa, while Mangalore Blues pulled one back through James D’Souza.
In another close encounter, Praneel Mendon with a direct shot scored from a late free-kick to help Mogaveera SC snatch a 1-0 win against Bombat Fort SC.
In the third match, Karnatak SC proved too strong for Jai Hind SC, romping to an emphatic 12-0 win. Strikers Amey Bhatkal and Aditya Swami, both scored a hat-trick each and Charnel De Almeida got a brace, while Moses P., Sagar Shetty, Bernard Joseph and Sagar Salian contributed a goal each to complete the big win.
