Favourites Varun Sharma and Vidhi Shah won their respective junior boys and girls singles titles in the Poinsur Gymkhana-MSDTTA Promotional table tennis tournament, held at Poinsur Gymkhana (Kandivali) here today. Varun, dropped the first game before he overcame Manan Shah 9-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-6, while Vidhi was taken the distance by bespectacled Sheefa Shaikh before Vidhi triumphed 11-8, 9-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-4. And top it all, Vidhi also bagged the sub-junior girls singles crownbeating Hiya Mehta 11-6,12-10, 6-11, 11.5.

However, Manan had the consolation of winning the sub-junior boys singles title. He was down 0-2, but rallied splendidly before he quelled the spirited challenge of Craig D’Souza 8-11, 9-11, 11-11-13, 6-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-5. 8.
