Shweta Hakke, from VPM SC (Dahisar), was the cynosure of all eyes when she sprinted to women’s 100m gold with record breaking effort on the second day of the Poinsur Gymkhana open athletics championships held at their ground at Kandivali here today. Incidentally her 12.5 secs timing improved upon her last year’s 13.2 secs. It was Shweta’s second record-breaking gold , having won the long jump gold yesterday.
For the second day running, VPM sports club continued their domination with Meghana Devanga clinching gold in shot put event with a heave of 12.36 mts, bettering her old record of 9.42 mts set in 2013.
For the hosts it was a memorable day, when their Kartik Hosbett pipped VPM SC’s Nikhil Kadam in a thrilling 100m finish to win gold in 11.1 secs. Harsh Rana too finish close third. However, Nikhil redeemed himself by winning the high jump gold. Another impressive gold winner was Roma Suverna from Gokuldham, in the triple jump girls under-16 event in 9.75 secs.

MEN:100m: Kartik Hosbett (Poinsur Gym) – 11.1 secs. 110m Hurdles: Aroop Das (Goenka Trust) – 16.3 secs. High Jump: Nikhil Kadam (VPM SC) – 1.60 mts. Shot Put : Hiren Joshi (VPM SC) – 14.87 mts.
BOYS: Under-16: 100m: Adnan Shaikh (Savio SC) – 11.5 secs. Triple Jump:Manav Shah ( Children’s Academy) – 12.33 secs.
WOMEN: 100m: Shweta Hakke (VPM SAC) – 12.5 secs – NMR. Shot Put: Meghana Devanga (VPM SC) – 12.36 mts – NMR.
GIRLS: Under-16: 100m: Kirti Bhoite (VPM SC) – 13.4 secs. Triple Jump: Roma Suverna (Gokuldham, Gorgaon) – 9.75 mts.
