Shweta Hakke, from VPM SC (Dahisar), leapt to 5.08 metres on way to bettering last year’s record of 4.80 mts in the women’s long jump event on the opening day of the Poinsur Gymkhana open athletics championships held at their ground at Kandivali here today.
The day saw two more meets records were established by the girl athletes from VPM Sports Club. Poorna Raorane won the girls under-16 Discus throw event with a throw of 30.19 mts and Divya Rawat’s 8.73 mts in the shot put saw her improving upon last year’s record of 7.89.
Winners of various events were:
MEN:Triple Jump: Nikhil Kadam (VPM SC) – 13.47 secs.
WOMEN: Discus Throw : Kinjal Shah (VPM SC) – 29.72 mts. Long Jump: Shweta Hakke (VPM SC) – 5.08 mts. (NMR).
GIRLS: Under-16: 400m: Krunali Pawar (VPM SC) – 74 secs. Discus Throw: Poorna Raorane (VPM SC) – 30.19 mts.(NMR).
