Don Bosco (Borivali) scored convincing wins over their respective under-16 and under-14 opponents to storm into the finals of the Poinsur Gymkhana Inter-school football tournament, held at Poinsur Gymkhana ground here today.
Don Bosco team on attack
Don Bosco captain Mithlesh Kasare struck in the very first minute and and added another in the second half to see his side sail into the finals with a 4-0 margin. Mithlesh was well backed by Neil Menezes and Ethan Rosario, who both added a goal apiece to complete the tally.
Their 2-1 win victory over Andheri’s Dominic Savio in the boys under-14 was achieved through Mithli Bhosale (18th min) and Nishant Gawali (36th min). However the Dominic Savio boys did fight back, but managed to reduce the margin through Yuvraj Achrekar.
The under-16 defending champions St. Francis D’Assissi triumphed over Swami Vivekanand 2-0 through a goal apiece by Kevin Shah and Vinayan Sakpal. But the D’Assissi boys were outplayed by St. Lawrence 2-0 in the boys under-14 semifinals. Utkarsh Rawat (23rd) and Raj Ghorpade (26th) were the scorers for the winners.
