A determined Maharashtra State Police put up a solid fighting display as they rallied from a 0-1 deficit to put it across Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) 3-1 in a crucial and concluding Senior Division match of the MHAL (Mumbai Hockey Association Limited) League – 2015 and played at the MHAL Stadium, Churchgate on Monday.
After Mayur Patil converted a penalty stroke to give RCF the lead, the policemen fought back and scored from three penalty corners through Sumit Mohite, Prithviraj Salunke and Kunal Jagdale to snatch a decisive win.
The State cops with the three points earned from this win finished with 12 points the same as RCF and Sea View SC, which resulted in three way tie at the top. However, MSP with a goal-difference of +20 topped the league followed by RCF (+18) and Sea View (+1). Hence, MSP and RCF earned the right to contest Tuesday’s final.
Results – Senior Div: Maharashtra State Police 3 (Sumit Mohite, Prithviraj Salunke, Kunal Jagdale) beat RCF 1 (Mayur Patil).
