Poinsur Gymkhana Inter-School cricket tournament
The spinning duo of Harsh Tripathi (3 for 16) and Nabil Aziz (2 for 5) helped last year’s finalist Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) to 46 runs win over Don Bosco (Borivli) to enter the quarterfinals of the Poinsur Gymkhana Inter-School cricket tournament at their ground at Kandivali today. In another pre-quarterfinal tie, Oxford Public (Charkop) made heavy weather while chasing Vibgyor (Goregaon)’s 123 for seven before reaching their target with five wickets to spare.
Rizvi Springfield, batting first, found the going tough against the pace and spin combination of Ashlesh Acharya and Pratik Dadarkar and could muster only 147 in the allotted 30 overs. In reply, however, incisive bowling and sharp fielding saw them restricting Don Bosco to 111 with opener Devesh Desai and Ashlesh Acyarya top scoring 21 and 26 respectively.
An unbeaten 65 with eight fours by opener Aditya Dhame featured in Oxford Public’s win over Vibgyor.
