Maharashtra has been honoured to host this year’s 54th National Championship Kho-Kho Championship, which will be held from March 24 to 28 in Osmanabad. Making this announcement, Mr. Chandrajit Jadhav, Joint Secretary, Federation of India said that the Championship for men and women will be held at Shri Tuljabhavani District Sports Complex, Osmanabad. He also clarified that the tournament will be played in compliance with all the rules and regulations imposed on the backdrop of the Corona outbreak.
Earlier, Osmanabad district had organized one Federation Cup Kho kho competition and five state championship Khokho competitions. It may be recalled that Osmanabad district has given 10 best players in national competitions to the country, four Shivchhatrapati award players have also been given by this district and one sports guide (Mr. Chandrajit Jadhav) and one sports organizer (Mr. Shahu Khogre) have also been awarded by this district. Sarika Kale has won the recently re-launched Arjuna Award in Khokho . The district has given three international khokho players and more than two hundred national khokho players. But, the first national kho-kho competition is being held in this district.
The state kho-kho championship competition will be held at Virar, Palghar
Before this national competition, the 57th state championship kho-kho competition will be held from March 10 to 13 at Virar, District Palghar.
The competition will be held at Backside Ground of Old Viva College, Viva College Road, Virar (West), Taluka Vasai, District Palghar. Govind Sharma, General Secretary, Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association, has informed that the men’s and women’s teams from 24 districts will participate in the state kho-kho competition.
